Responsibilities:
The Technician B provides high quality, timely workmanship on propane and refined fuel vehicles.  Uses correct tools/ equipment for the job, demonstrates good judgment.  At all times keeps safety first and foremost.  Make appropriate recommendations for process improvements/working smarter.  Effectively shares knowledge and experience with all coworkers.  Quality controls own work as well as others when needed to ensure zero callbacks.  Stays current/actively participates in all safety and training modules.
  • At all times keeps safety first and foremost.  Actively demonstrates proper training and safety practices.  Report any safety issues immediately to Shop Manager.
  • Performs diagnostic and repair workmanship as outlined on work order in an efficient, timely and highly accurate manner.
  • Inspects to determine if further safety/service work is required/recommended (i.e., looks outside of the box).
  • Uses correct tools/equipment for the job, demonstrates good judgment.  Report tools and equipment deficiencies, malfunctions or anything that has occurred to change the appearance/condition of the vehicle/equipment to Shop Manager.
  • Make appropriate recommendations for process improvements/working smarter.
  • Assists Technicians on diagnoses, repairs, new procedures, and service bulletins/programs/recalls when needed.
  • Quality controls own work as well as others when needed to ensure zero callbacks.  Perform inspections of work in progress and upon completion for thoroughness and quality.  Ensures work meets required standards and proper documents are accurately and legibly completed.
  • Stays current/actively participate in all safety and training modules.  Attend monthly shop meetings as well as any other company/safety meetings.  Recommends training modules as needed.  Keep up-to-date with manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Follows Company and environmental policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations.
  • Estimate parts and labor for repairs with approval, and assists as needed in obtaining parts.
  • Ensure work area is safe, clean and free from debris.
  • Requires moderate supervision.
  • Maintains cleanliness and appearance while adhering to Company apparel/safety equipment guidelines.
  • Maintains all company-owned tools/manuals.  Returns to proper place in same condition as received.
  • Inventory Control.  Including, but not limited to, maintaining on-hand stock parts, tools, equipment, supplies as needed,  creating and submitting Purchase Orders for approval/ordering, anticipating necessary parts for specific jobs/customers, etc.
  • Saves tags and properly documents parts used for accurate customer invoicing.  Save parts for all jobs so they can be shown to customer or returned for warranty if needed.
  • Accurately and legibly documents all work performed and recommended.
  • Alert Shop Manager of any additional repairs or maintenance that is needed to a customer vehicle.  Inform Shop Manager if vehicle cannot be completed within time promised.  Keep Shop Manager informed of all problems and potential problems involving repairs, customers, equipment and personnel concerns.  Communicate with Shop Manager the status on all jobs throughout the
  • Customer Relations as directed by Shop Manager.  Including, but not limited to, in-coming and out-going customer calls/pages regarding questions, necessary repairs, status of repairs, job completion, etc.  Investigates and resolves customer quality issues.
  • Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services or repairs.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (approximately 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to work effectively with heights (i.e., ladder/top of tank).
Requirements:
  • Education:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience as a Service Technician or combination of education and work experience to include mechanical knowledge/experience for general hand tools, power tools, welding and torch equipment. Extensive knowledge of heavy/medium duty truck repairs.
  • Needs to be fluent in Stick, MIG and TIG welding for aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel. Welding knowledge and Company welding procedures.
  • Required to complete in-shop training procedures pertaining to safety, Hazmat, vehicle inspection test
  • Detail, quality and service orientated
  • Ability to work at a fast and efficient speed, keeping safety first with zero callbacks
  • Ability and willingness to maintain current product and technical knowledge
  • Must have own tools to perform Technician B work. Tools must be maintained and kept in an organized manner.
