Position Summary:

The CMM Programmer is responsible for creating and maintaining CMM programs for all produced parts. This role involves performing dimensional layouts of products in a lab environment, analysing data according to customer specifications, and generating necessary reports using CMM and other gaging tools. The CMM Programmer will assist with inspections throughout the machining processes, collaborating closely with the Quality Manager to ensure compliance with dimensional requirements outlined in customer design records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Note: Duties may be modified, or additional duties assigned.)

• Develop direct computer-controlled CMM programs using PC-DMIS software, aligning with ballooned drawings, and creating setup instructions and photos.
• Prove out CMM programs and verify accuracy in cases of discrepancies.
• Support machinists and operators in identifying and resolving discrepancies during CMM first piece or in-process checks to enhance part quality.
• Conduct detailed part layouts using CMMs and other layout techniques, including documentation and reporting of results.
• Perform incoming inspections and layouts on castings, forgings, and other supplied products as required.
• Assist in completing new part quality documentation tasks, including ballooned drawings, inspection check sheets, operator instructions, SPC charts, flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans, dimensional layouts, PSW, capability studies, and measurement system analysis.
• Follow standardized procedures for first piece, in-process, and final inspections across various parts.
• Understand the importance of random sampling for performance evaluation while auditing product batches for consistency.
• Conduct gage verification (calibration) and assist in maintaining the gage recall system.
• Monitor quality performance trends and communicate potential corrective actions to management to integrate new processes, practices, and standards that reduce errors and enhance profitability.
• Participate in the internal audit team.
• Complete other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of CMM programming experience preferred.
• 2-3 years of quality experience preferred.
• Understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to interpret blueprints.
• One year of experience with PC-DMIS preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to work in lab and shop environments.
• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Operate tools and cranes as required.
• Occasionally move and lift objects up to 75 lbs.
