Forklift Driver – $20-$23 per hour – Waukesha
$20-$23 per hour | First shift 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Full-time | Waukesha, WI
A growing metal fabrication shop in Waukesha needs a steady sit-down forklift driver who is comfortable moving heavy, oversized material — not retail boxes. If you like being outside and inside in the same shift, taking clear direction, and keeping a busy floor staged and moving, this is a strong first-shift seat.
This is real industrial material handling. You will run a sit-down forklift across indoor bays, outdoor yards, racks, outbuildings, and the dock. The loads are sheet, bar stock, weldments, and large metal pans. An office coordinator owns the paperwork and tells you what moves next. Your job is to stay calm, stay safe, and get the metal where it needs to be.
What You Will Do
- Operate a sit-down forklift to move heavy and oversized metal throughout the facility.
- Transport sheet, bar stock, weldments, and large fabricated parts between production bays, racks, outdoor yards, outbuildings, and the shipping dock.
- Stage material so welders and fabricators have what they need without hunting for it.
- Load and unload trucks and help keep the dock moving.
- Work alongside the office coordinator who handles bills of lading and shipping paperwork and assigns the next moves.
- Keep travel lanes, staging areas, and drop zones clean and safe.
- Follow direction well and stay even-keeled when priorities change mid-shift.
What You Bring
- Sit-down forklift experience in a manufacturing, metal, fabrication, or other heavy industrial setting.
- Comfortable moving awkward, heavy, or oversized loads — not only palletized boxes.
- Experience that includes yard, racking, or dock work is a plus.
- Calm, easy-going, and steady. You take direction without getting flustered.
- Basic shipping paperwork or bill-of-lading familiarity is helpful. It is not required.
- Reliable work history. A stable recent job record matters for this shop.
- Able to work first shift, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Why You Will Like It
- First shift, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a clear end to the day.
- Pay of $20 to $23 per hour based on experience.
- Heavy industrial work with variety — different loads, different corners of the property, not the same aisle all day.
- A humble, team-oriented shop that values safety and people who show up ready to work.
- In-house training on their fork truck and warehouse process.
- A growing metal shop adding medical and heavy industrial work, so the material flow stays busy.
