We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Bander / Assembler to support production of wood structural floor and roof trusses. This position performs repetitive assembly and banding tasks, ensures products are properly assembled and secured, and keeps production areas clean and organized so the production lines can operate efficiently.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, follows safety procedures carefully, and is able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Check all emergency stops at the beginning of each shift and complete the required checklist.
- Place and center the first truss of each bundle on the stacker for proper offloading and adjust the bumper for the remainder of the bundle.
- Monitor stackers to ensure trusses are rolling out and moving properly.
- Review production paperwork for special banding instructions and identify trusses that have been removed from the line for sheathing or nailing.
- Band finished trusses using banding directly from the roll rather than cutting individual strips to minimize waste and cleanup.
- Ensure trusses are properly secured to stacker arms, particularly scissor trusses and during windy conditions.
- Assist forklift operators during the offloading process by lowering stacker arms or moving drive-through rollers as needed.
- Maintain a safe distance from suspended loads and never work underneath a suspended load.
- Place components on production tables.
- Verify dimensions of precut parts and assembly accuracy using rulers, gauges, and tape measures.
- Ensure stops are properly positioned on production tables to hold truss components in place.
- Install metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints using a hammer or pneumatic equipment.
- Apply appropriate tags and labels to finished products.
- Guide completed products out of the production area via roller conveyor.
- Assist with banding finished products for shipment.
- Arrange lumber carts in the proper order according to the position of each production line.
- When caught up with production, clean and organize stacker areas by removing banding, clips, blocks, and other debris.
- Assist other production employees with work as needed when caught up on assigned responsibilities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred; or at least 3 months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and others.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide measurements.
- Ability to read and understand a standard tape measure.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate banding equipment and other production machinery.
- Familiarity with tools such as hammers, wrenches, nail pullers, tape measures, and staplers is helpful.
- No specific certifications or licenses are required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequent use of hands to handle tools, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to walk, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Ability to occasionally climb or balance.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment and production machinery.
- Requires adequate close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
