Shift: 6AM – 6PM or 6PM – 6AM- Rotating weekends
Pay: $16-17/hr
Position Summary
The Sheet Extrusion Packer Operator is an entry-level role with a clear career path. Successful employees will be trained and promoted into an Inspector role, performing more advanced duties under the guidance of higher-level technicians. This position supports sheet extrusion operations while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards. Employees must follow all safety rules and understand emergency egress routes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand all operations and materials listed on the production Job Traveler
- Assist with extrusion setups accurately
- Verify sheet gauge and properly set knives and shear
- Identify hot and cold sheet and adjust knives and shear to ensure correct sheet size
- Maintain proper material levels for oncoming shifts
- Package sheet correctly with legible labels and neat records
- Sort and designate material as save or scrap
- Assist with line startups
- Identify defective product and follow Quality Control procedures for non-conforming sheets
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors
- Operate forklift (license required or obtained on the job)
- Grind scrap during scrap time and production
- Perform quality inspections accurately
- Obtain and maintain a toolbox and basic hand tools
- Build pallets as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S standards
- Perform general and preventive maintenance tasks
- Inspect parts to quality criteria and assist with first-part approval
- Navigate Allied ERP and web-based timekeeping systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- One to three months of related experience or training preferred, but not required
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands
- Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Ability to lift, pull, or move up to 25 pounds
- Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles
- Occasional exposure to extreme heat and elevated work areas
- Moderate noise level
